Natural Acne Relief
MOSTTT of the time, acne is an internal issue.
Of course the quality of your skincare and makeup products is super important (non toxic and non pore clogging), but reducing inflammation , supporting the liver/detox pathways + addressing gut bacteria should be on the top of the list for acne treatment.
Detoxifying herbs like cilantro, parsley, turmeric, and dandelion support the liver by aiding in the elimination of toxins and enhancing overall liver function.
Vitamin A rich foods have been shown to reduce acne, hyperpigmentation, and even treating skin conditions like psoriasis. I highly recommend beef liver, but leafy greens, bell peppers, mango, and eggs are a few good options as well!
Liquid chlorophyll is a great anti-inflammatory for skin and contains lots of antimicrobials which can reduce acne and even pore size, but it also supports liver detoxification.
Wild fish for omega 3 fatty acids can help reduce inflammation which is often linked to acne. Flax seeds and chia seeds, too!
The right kind of daily probiotic is also very important! One of my absolute favorites is Just Thrive - It arrives 100% alive in your gut, produces antioxidants (which are great for skin health), and enhances nutrient absorption! Use my link or code MADDHEALTHY for a 15% discount.
Excess stress can cause excess inflammation in the body, which often can upset your gut microbiome and stress will also throw off your hormones (starting with cortisol/insulin, etc.). Your glands can also produce more oil when you’re stressed out, so focus on managing it!
Matcha, but make it ceremonial grade. Starbucks matcha contains as much sugar as a can of coke. So if you’re really looking to improve your skin, focus on pure, ceremonial grade which is packed with skin supporting nutrients. My favorite is Pique Ceremonial Grade Matcha!
Dark berries, nuts, and leafy greens are high in antioxidants which have been shown to improve skin health and reduce inflammation.
If you’re continually facing persistent acne/skin issues, I highly recommend starting with a GI Map stool test! It’s a perfect way to learn how your gut is impacting other areas of your body (including your skin).
As you can see I and many of my clients have overcome terrible acne by treating the root cause and making lifestyle changes like those listed above. If you’d like to chat about 1:1 coaching book a free info call!
